Damon Young of the Washington Post, and many other people, make the assumption is that most people whose opinions matter to you would feel awful if anyone found out they had worked in the adult industry.  But this assumption is wrong.  This isn’t the 1950s anymore.  Look at it economically:  You’re entitled to a good living, and people in adult often make a good living.  The rates are good, and if you end up on a box cover, really good.

How much social prestige must you sacrifice for a great payday?  Young people will be excited rather than critical that you work in adult.  Lots of them would like to try it, too, but they don’t have the contacts.

Many women will applaud, because they know just how hard it is to get along if you don’t have the degrees or own a business.

The people who will not applaud will be adult males, because they download porn in order to masturbate.  And anything touching on their solitary pleasures makes them uneasy.  They are uneasy because they conceal masturbation from their wives and partners.  They are uneasy because many of them have masturbatory fantasies that they would never, ever, dare put into practice.  And they are uneasy because they are fifty year-old men pleasuring themselves to images of women who are younger than their daughters.

As Yourself Whether Disapproval Matters

So, if you can’t take the heat of disapproval from men well into middle age, try something else to make a living, like selling newspaper subscriptions online.  But if you think, “Hey, do I really care what dads think,” then full speed ahead. People in the adult industry are usually nice and easy to deal with.  They, too, have families and somehow deal with disapproval from the church elders.  And it’s a living that will get you a lot of travel.  The adult industry conventions are often in interesting, exotic places.  You will love it.

So let’s back off a bit from this “scorn of disapproval” line.  If your face is shown on camera, sooner or later, everyone you know will find out about it.  That is certain.  But many women will envy you and wish they had the bodies for it.  And many men will wilt with guilty consciences.  Full speed ahead!
